I am just receiving payments now and I am noticing that the Blues in Massachusetts are paying the 99 codes while attaching the medical co-pays which in some cases are significantly higher than the MH co-pays. They have not notified the patients and I certainly have not been notified, this decreases the allowed amount and requires me to notify and bill patients. When asked about notification, the manager said "we're working on it." And she went on to say that the co-pays are correct and coming from the medical portion of benefits. I've also noticed that most of the co-pays from United on my EOBs have been reduced and in some cases increased resulting in over and underpayments to me, and the patients have also not been notified. One patient called me to ask what was going on.
Is anyone else having these experiences?
