Bio
Back in California after 15 years in Alaska. Went to school here, and am now back teaching in California. As an PMHNP & FNP, my experiences and interests are trauma-informed practice and primary care behavioral health. My doctoral work focuses on narrative-based practice in an evidence-based world.
Given that humans think and relate through story logic rather than scientific logic or fact during times of conflict, illness and change; how do clinicians help their patients manage both the experience of illness AND the treatment of disease? How do clinicians integrate research-proven therapies, sterilized of individual variables and isolated of contexts, back into the messy world of a specific person's juicy and very contextual life situation? What is essential for 'embodied' practice?
