Some colleagues and I are doing some research on texts that are used for NP education and I am trying to compile a list of textbooks that are used  for your PMH courses.  I have included below the list of books that I use and would appreciate knowing if there are others  that you use. I am interested particularly  in Advance Practice Nursing text but would like to know  all that you use.
Here is my list:

American Psychiatric Association (2013). Diagnostic criteria from DSM 5(5 th ed.). Washington: American Psychiatric Association.

Liberman, R. (2008). Recovery from disability. Washing, DC: American Psychiatric Associaiton.

Sadock, B. and Sadock, V. & Ruiz, P. (2015). Synopsis of Psychiatry. 11th edition. Philadelphia: Williams & Wilkins.

I am a DNP student now and have found text for psychiatric mental health education pretty lacking. In fact, we haven't been required to purchase any text, rather any information has been case related and pulled from other texts. So- I really appreciate this effort. It is so important!
I also think that a full understanding of addictions and substance is important for APRN education. Before school I had been studying for my CARN, but missed the deadline for the test and have never gone back to taking it. I think that following texts like this and the ANCC Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse may also help guide literature.
I have also always found books with case studies and more training bases to be helpful. I've done a lot of training myself in how to lead psychoeducational groups, work with eating disorders, ect, but I think it is important for the APRN student to grasp these first hand to understand beyond the academic stereotypes and stigmas and understand the correlation relationships (not causation).
I will definitely look into my own library and see if I can find any other books to add to your list!
