Psychiatric Fall Risk Assessments

Hello All!!!

I am inquiring to see if anyone is using specific fall assessments for psychiatric patients. My unit is currently using the Morse Assessment and I am looking into changing this to one that is specific to psychiatric patients.

I have looked at the Edmonson Psychiatric Fall Assessment. Does anyone have any experience in this one? Do you know of any others that you have used? Any information would be appreciated.

We are also looking at modifying our Morse fall risk assessment tool for our inpatient unit. When reviewing the studies, it is found that nurse subjectivity and communication, as well as extrinsic factors on the unit, are the weak areas of any fall risk tool. A modification of  Morse fall is what we are looking at.Thoughts ?

This is something we're discussing on our unit too. Am very interested in any discussion this topic produces!
