I have "officially" been in nursing since 1981 and have had the opportunity to enjoy many roles and experiences in nursing, consultation, leadership and mentoring. I started in the Neonatal ICU (only because they would not take ‘new’ grads in child psych (always my first love). I have worked in psych since 1985 and as an APRN since 1992. I have a a variety of ‘spicy’ experiences from in-patient, to consult liaison, and have had private practice since 1992. I was the director of the graduate psych program at the University of Louisville School of Nursing since 2007. I retired from that position in May, 2017 and just do private practice 3 days a week now.
I enjoy writing, playing music, singing, learning, and I can't believe I get to do something I love so much and get paid for it. I completed the Master Psychopharmacology Fellowship through the Neuroscience Institute in December of 2014 and sat for exam to be Certified Master Psychopharmacologist (CMP). I am a regional speaker for Assurexhealth on Pharmacogenomics and Allergan on Vraylar. I love doing therapy and working with adolescent girls and women on a variety of issues. I love doing interpersonal growth groups. My passion is child and adolescent mental health and parenting. I feel really lucky! Trying to practice what I preach and do more self care, smell the flowers and stare at the clouds. It’s an adjustment to be human being vs human doing! Work in progress right?! (~;
