Diagnosis ASD, ADHD concerns, private practice recommendations

Good day!

I am curious to inquire what Psych NPs in private practice do when they suspect an ASD diagnosis.  Have you made this diagnosis off a clinical exam or refer to neuropsychological testing, which I was I usually do?  Obviously, I tell patients what I suspect, educate, and then prescribe medictions to treat co-morbid conditions such as anxiety, depression, and irritability with use of our standard treatments (SSRIs, anti-psychotics, mood stabilizers).  There seems to be a large number of adults coming forward w concerns for ASD, and obviously ADHD (which I see as entirely problematic in relation to increased stimulant use and prescribing during the pandemic).  Recently, it seems that schools needs documentation for ASD and ADHD so I will refer out to a psychologist for a thorough exam which includes neuropsych testing.
