I have been a registered nurse for approximately nine years. The majority of my experience, as well as my area of interest, has been in psychiatric nursing. In the past two years I have also worked with those afflicted with substance use disorders and obtained my CARN. After relocating to Florida, I was disheartened at the realization of the lack of mental health services available to minority/low income populations. This has led to my pursuit of an advanced degree so that I would be in a more discernible position to provide quality mental health care at the community level. I will begin the pursuit of my PMHNP at Vanderbilt University in August 2021. At this time I am seeking a preceptor for both the health assessment and psychiatric clinical rotations. Clinical assignments would ideally be in the Naples/Fort Myers, FL area where I currently reside.
