Smoking Cessation Resources for Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing

By Julia Houfek posted 04-05-2017 12:36 PM

Hello, Everyone,

The Tobacco Dependence Group of the Addictions Council wants to share Smoking Cessation Information/Resources to encourage psychiatric nurses to help their patients and others become successful quitters. The Information/Resource for April 2017 is from the CDC webpages, and specifically addresses smoking among persons with a mental health disorder. The information/resources can be found at:

https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/disparities/mental-illness-substance-use/index.htm

In addition to the resource above, the CDC also has another page (Cessation Tips for Mental Health Campaign) with excellent resources (e.g. a Pocket Guide for Cessation Interventions and a Printable Ads to display in your practice setting).

You may have seen the advertisement for this page in the JAPNA Sept/Oct 2016 Issue (Vol. 22, #5). We are posting it here again for your use:

We hope you find these resources useful.

Sincerely,
Julie Houfek, PhD, APRN-CNS
