Hello all, thank you for taking the time to "stop by"!
A little about me; I have been a psychiatric nurse for 18 years. I started directly into psychiatry after graduating with my BSN. I worked with the seriously mentally ill for many years before returning to school to become a PMHNP. I worked primarily in outpatient mental health clinics and primary care mental health for 8 years before moving to our clinical education department. Now, I am straddling both, as our VA was just awarded a PMHNP Residency, of which I will be the director. Additionally, I am completing the PhD program at University of Colorado College of Nursing with emphasis in Caring Science. I became an end of life doula last year with interest in palliative/hospice care and quality of life at the end of life. It always amazes me the unexpected paths we are blessed with as nurses to pursue our passions.
I'm excited for this new opportunity, as residency director, to share the knowledge I've gained with newly graduated psychiatric nurse practitioners. Please consider joining our outstanding VA team in beautiful Western Colorado, taking care of our nations Veterans!
