Twenty years of increasingly responsible experience in an acute inpatient state hospital, beginning as a night shift staff nurse. Currently Director of Nursing for 158 bed facility which provides acute psychiatric care for adults, children and adolescents. Research and publication interests include nurse work satisfaction, seclusion and restraint reduction and prevention of assaults to staff. Spearheaded successful workplace initiatives for a tobacco-free hospital campus, improved relationships with community emergency departments and decreased employee absenteeism. Currently involved in promotion of staff engagement and collaborative problem solving methods as means to reduce the use of constant observation and one-to-one "sitters" on a locked child/adolescent unit.
