Whether it is an evidence-based practice change, a quality improvement project, or a research study, APNA wants to fund research conducted by psychiatric-mental health nurses.

APNA is looking to award a number of research grants to new psychiatric-mental health nurse researchers. We will be awarding funding from $1,000 to $10,000, depending on the researcher's needs. The deadline to submit a research proposal is Tuesday, March 21st.

We are especially looking to help out nurses new to research. So new this year, nurses have the opportunity to submit their proposals for a preliminary review by members of the Research Council. Submit a draft of your proposal by February 27th and the Research Council will provide you with feedback which you can integrate into your final submission before the deadline. All final submissions must be submitted by March 21st and will be reviewed by the APNA Research Grants Committee.

These grants help individual nurses make scientific contributions which advance the knowledge and practice of psychiatric-mental health nursing. Past grants recipients have gone on to have their research published in scholarly journals such as JAPNA, secure larger grants based on the groundwork laid through this grant, and further apply the experience gained in the coding, analysis, and preparation of data-based manuscripts.
