Query on forensic psychiatric nursing

Having experience working in Europe in forensic psychiatric services I concur that in many countries forensic psychiatric nurses work in a wide variety of environments.  Because of the nature of their work, often working in locked environments removed from other client groups, they often feel isolated and ignored regarding that work that they do.  They might not stand back from the work that they do and recognize that they are a "forensic psychiatric nurse."  I think that it is important that nurses who work with clients who have gone through a judicial process receive the support and education that they need to be able to deliver care in a professional manner.  In my previous experience overesas I found that forensic units in psychiatric hospitals often became the dumping ground for aggressive or difficult to manage clients from regular psychiatric units.  Has anyone else experienced this phenomena?
