The Stanford Mood Disorders Center and the Stanford Center for CME (SCCME) are pleased to send you this email announcing the 4th Annual Suicide Course entitled “Suicide-Focused Assessment and Treatment.” As in the past, this virtual course is offered free to all registrants; registrants can choose to view the course live stream or "on-demand." The course is approved for CEUs, both for live stream and "on-demand" registrants. Registration is required to receive the "on-demand" link. The impetus for this course is based upon the current suicide crisis which has seen a nearly 35% rise in the suicide rate since 2000. The course will offer a timely review of relevant topics to address this crisis as detailed below.
- Myths of suicide, Identification of risk, and action steps
- Interpersonal Theory and Biology of Suicide
- Population-based interventions to prevent suicidal behavior
- Suicide Risk in Diverse populations and approaches to Asian Youth
- Update on clinical Utilization of TMS and Ibogaine
- Suicide Safety Planning Group Interventions
- Moving beyond fear in working with the suicidal patient
- Current Status of Stanford Ketamine Studies
- A dialogue with a suicide attempt survivor
The course directors will again be Dr. Alan Schatzberg from Stanford University and Dr. Douglas Jacobs from Harvard University and all the presentations will be new and conclude with a summary on “Implications For Clinical Practice.”

As a reminder, optional continuing education credits for all disciplines will be available through the (SCCME) for a small administrative fee.
