Psych Nursing

I began healthcare as a Respiratorty therapist. Knowing I couldnt get more involved in the whole picture encouraged me to enter the nursing profession. After practicing in a Pediatric ICU, I realized that I was doing more Psych nursing than anything. Working with the families more than the sedated patient was the hub of my responsibility. If I didnt start in medical areas, I may not have ever realized that Psychiatric Nursing was necessary in all fields of Nursing. I feel that we do not lose nurses this way, but acquire more nurses with a broad understanding of how necessary psychiatric experts are in every area.
