Psychiatric Nurses’ Perceptions of Therapeutic Alliance with the Schizophrenia Population: A Survey Study

We are conducting a research study to learn more about nurses' thoughts and attitudes about therapeutic communication with patients with schizophrenia. We are asking you to participate because you are a nurse who has experience either working with or teaching about patients with schizophrenia.

If you meet the following inclusion criteria, you are able to participate:

  • You currently hold an LPN or RN license (non-nurse practitioner role)
  • You are between the ages of 21-65
  • You currently practice in mental health nursing as staff or faculty
  • You have at least one year experience in psychiatric nursing
  • You have cared for patients with schizophrenia within the last five years

If you agree to participate, you will be asked to click on a link to access an online survey and complete it. This survey will take between 5 and 10 minutes of your time. Research data collected from you will be anonymous.

Your participation is voluntary, which means you can choose not to participate.  There will be no negative consequences if you decide not to participate or change your mind later after you begin the study.  You can withdraw your participation at any time prior to submitting your survey. If you change your mind later while answering the survey, you may simply exit the survey. Once you submit your responses, we will be unable to remove your data later from the study because all data is anonymous and we will not know which data belongs to you.

To Participate:  Click this link to access the survey  http://depaul.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_8v741sJMOkaAVhz

To Help Further:  Please forward this information sheet to psychiatric nurses who meet the inclusion criteria.
