Each month, the Research Council Steering Committee features an APNA member. This month, we are featuring Mr. Harry Adynski!
Harry Adynski is a PhD candidate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Hillman Scholar in Nursing Innovation, a unique integrated BSN to PhD program. Harry graduated with a Double Major with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Psychology from UNC-CH in May 2018 with highest honors. Then completed the Hillman Clinical Fellowship working as a registered nurse at UNC-Medical Center in adult inpatient psychiatry. He continues to work clinically throughout his PhD studies and serves on the UNC-MC’s Nursing Research Council and is a current clinical teaching fellow for the undergraduate nursing students in the Mental Health Promotion and Psychiatric Care Across Populations and Settings course.
Currently he is in his fourth year of his PhD studies and has published two first author and two coauthored publications during his studies exploring social and biological determinants of psychological health and well-being. He is currently funded by the National Institutes of Health National Institute for Nursing Research by a F31 fellowship supporting his dissertation work entitled The Role of Social Adversity on Trajectories of Child Emotional Health Regulation. His dissertation will explore the role of early life social adversity on trajectories of child emotional health regulation across early childhood, related functional outcomes at school entry, and potential mediating factors including parenting characteristics. Harry’s career objectives include to lead interdisciplinary research teams to advance understanding early child development and psychological health and well-being to promote positive child health and wellness among at risk populations.
