Hello!  I am a PMHNP currently enrolled in a DNP program.  My DNP project is about long-acting injectable antipsychotics (LAIs).  It is an interventional study to determine if a presentation of an educational toolkit about LAIs has an impact on the knowledge, attitudes, and practice of any psychiatric prescribers regarding LAIs.  If you participate and want a downloadable version of the toolkit, please contact me at L.A.Lewis@eagle.clarion.edu.  I will attach an invitation to participate along with a link to the Moodle site on which the intervention is housed.  Thank you so much for considering.

Research Announcement and Invitation

Dear Prescribers of Psychiatric Medication and Prospective Research Participants,

I am Doctor of nursing practice (DNP) student at Clarion and Edinboro Universities- Online.  As part of requirements for completion of a DNP degree, I am conducting a translational research study along with the primary researcher, Dr. Rodgers. The study was reviewed and found to be exempt by the Institutional Review Board of Edinboro University.  The study is titled, Development and Evaluation of a Web-Based Educational Toolkit on the Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices of Psychiatric Prescribers Regarding Long-Acting Injectable Antipsychotics.

This is an open invitation to participate in the translational research study.  The purpose of the study is to determine the impact of a web-based educational toolkit on the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of psychiatric prescribers regarding long-acting injectable antipsychotics.  If you choose to participate in the study, know that you can withdraw from the study at any time and your responses will not be included in the data analysis.  Participants will be asked to complete a three phased module.  The baseline phase will consist of a question verifying each participant as a prescriber of psychiatric medications, a consent form,  demographic questions, and completion of a before- intervention questionnaire.  The intervention phase will consist of a web-based presentation of an educational toolkit about long-acting injectable antipsychotics which lasts approximately 20 minutes.  The post-intervention phase will consist of an after- intervention questionnaire.  To take part in the intervention, participants will need to create an account on Moodle, a web-based open source learning system, using a personal email.  All information and responses will be confidential and personal email addresses will be de-identified during data analysis.  The Moodle site and all data gathered will be retained by the primary researcher, Dr. Rodger, for three years following completion of the research study. Findings will be included in a paper submitted to ProQuest and for publication in a scientific journal; they will also be shared with Clarion and Edinboro Universities.

An informed consent agreement will appear prior to participating in the web-based intervention.  There will be no individually identifiable information of you as an individual participant.  All results will be presented as summary data.  You may receive a copy of the web-based educational toolkit and research results at the conclusion of the study by contacting the student researcher at: L.A.Lewis@eagle.clarion.edu

There is no compensation for the study.  However, participation will be valuable to the completion of the research study and findings will contribute to the current literature on the subject.  If you would like more information, please send an email to me at L.A.Lewis@eagle.clarion.edu, or to Dr. Rodgers at Jrodgers@edinboro.edu.

If you are willing to participate, please go to the following link.  You can enroll in the study at https://longactinginjectables.moodlecloud.com/login/index.php

The intervention will be available until August 10, 2020.

Thank you for the consideration!
