I agree with the position statement. ECT was safe and effective in the 1980's when I assisted with this procedure. The standards and safety measures are even higher today. There is an article by Jun Yan which further explains the need for the re-classifiction from III to II in APA News dated 1/1/10, vol 45, #1.
