I am the director of a 20 bed inpatient psychiatric unit in Norfolk NE and I am inquiring into how other facilities screen their patients for advance directives/POA/DNR? And if you have a patient that states that they want to be a DNR is their a safeguard put in place; does the physcian need to have an at length discussion with this patient and review risks/benefits, reasons for this request etc? Any input would be appreciated.
