Would someone please explain to me the relative benefits or lack thereof of practicing in a private practice that offers 55-60% of insurance reimbursement? Is that a standard cut? Any suggestions of language to watch for in the contract? Is a two year commitment the usual? Thank you for any input. Theresa

Theresa,
In SW-PA the usual "split" is about 60% to you and 40% to the practice. This 40% covers usually the rent, utilities, housekeeping, secretary, billing services etc. What kind of practice are you working at? A physician-run practice (w/ the billing under the physician) or a nurse-run practice. Who will cover your liability insurance? Will you be working in the role of a CNS or NP? Are you new to this role or well seasoned/experienced? I think that these questions are important when negotiating a contract. Good luck!
