I have been a nurse for 24 years. In that 24 years I have worked Med/Surg, tele, cardiovascular intervention, traveled, taught and found psych. It was working in mental health that I had my “a-ha” moment, where everything slipped into place and I knew I was where I was meant to be.
While not working currently, mental health and all things related remain my passion. Being on the Board of the California chapter allows me to stay in the thick of things. To contribute even in a small way to awareness, acceptance and growth of mental health in our community, within the health care field and nursing. A psychiatrist I admired once said when addressing the importance of mental health care in the health continuum that ;
“Without the mind, you have nothing, it is needed to be truly successful caring for the whole person”
Think about it..
