Bio

Linda Mabey is on the faculty of the Brigham Young University., College of Nursing. She has taught undergraduate and graduate nurses the art and science of psychiatric nursing since 1995. She began her career in teaching at Westminster College in Salt Lake City in 1989,and taught both undergraduate and graduate psychiatric nursing courses at the University of Utah for sixteen years. She has been an active member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) since 2005. She currently serves on the Scholarly Review Committee and Undergraduate Education Council of APNA. Her clinical focus is in treatment of psychological trauma and PTSD, and she has presented at national and regional conferences on this topic. She recently published an article entitled “Treatment of PTSD in Patients with Severe Mental Illness: A Review” in the International Journal of Mental Health Nursing. She maintains an active counseling and prescriptive practice in South Ogden, Utah.
Dr. Mabey has worked with clients with mental illnesses in a variety of capacities, including as an inpatient staff nurse, an outpatient clinical nurse specialist in the public mental health system, and in private practice. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Utah in 2009. Her capstone project was entitled, “Treatment of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder in the Severely Mentally Ill: Improving Mental Health Services in a County Mental Health System”.
