I began my nursing career in the Emergency Room right out of college. I love the energy in an Emergency Room. I always knew that I wanted to be a Nurse Practitioner and I went right back to school after getting my Bachelor's Degree. My first NP certificate was in Women's Health and I worked in a Family Practice setting for 10 years. I started getting restless and wanted to go back to school. I ultimately chose to purse my Post Master's Certificate in Mental Health.
I worked in various clinics doing outpatient medication management, in a Mental Health Hospital and then fell into Psychiatric Emergency Medicine. I love it!
The knowledge base requires a background in medicine and in psychiatry. It is the perfect combination for me.
