As Secretary of the Nevada Chapter of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA), Dr. Sandra Pierre-Louis is vital in advancing communication, organizational operations, and advocacy efforts that promote mental health awareness and reduce stigma throughout the Las Vegas community and beyond.
Dr. Pierre-Louis is a dual-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP-C) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC), with over 14 years of advanced clinical experience. Her unique approach to patient care, mental health advocacy, nursing education, and community engagement has set her apart. Her work has earned multiple accolades, including being named a Top Nurse Practitioner in Las Vegas by TodaysNursing.org in 2025.
Dr. Pierre-Louis's academic journey is a testament to her dedication to nursing excellence. She earned her BSN in 2004 with Dean's Honor Roll distinction, followed by a Master of Science in Nursing (FNP) in 2010. In 2019, she furthered her scope of practice by obtaining a Post-Master's Certificate in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Her academic pursuits culminated in a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2022 and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education from UNLV in 2024.
Dr. Pierre-Louis's leadership roles have significantly impacted the community and the field of nursing. As the founder and lead clinician of Divine Soul Mental Health Services, she provides compassionate, holistic care tailored to her patients' physical, emotional, and psychological needs. Her extensive experience spans inpatient, outpatient, and telepsychiatry settings, where she has treated individuals across the lifespan—children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. She specializes in treating major depressive disorder, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use disorders, among other conditions. She has also served as a Regional Clinical Manager for a Medicare organization.
In her academic role as Assistant Professor-in-Residence at the UNLV School of Nursing, Dr. Pierre-Louis mentors and educates future nurse practitioners in mental health, instilling in them the values of clinical excellence, cultural competence, and advocacy.
Dr. Pierre-Louis is actively shaping the future of psychiatric nursing in Nevada and beyond through her leadership as chapter secretary of Nevada, clinical practice, and academic mentorship. Her dedication to integrity, service, and equity in mental health care instills optimism and confidence in the field's future.
