Board Certified Psychiatric Mental-Health Nurse Practitioner/Clinician with 10 years of health-care experience, with a focus on holistic treatment of mental illness including medication management, prescription, education, and providing supportive psychotherapies among pediatric, adolescent, and geriatric populations in collaboration with doctors, nurses, therapists and other mental-health providers. Intimate knowledge of DSM-V, ICD-10, and pharmacotherapy standards inform diagnoses, prescribing, psychotherapy, education, and other treatment practices.
I am currently working at C5N at UAB Hospital, which is a psychiatric acute care unit, and also Beacon Recovery outpatient, which treats people with substance use disorders. I am a board certified PMHNP since 2017, and am preparing to sit for the CARN-AP exam as well this Spring so that I can better prepare myself for continuing to practice in the addictions specialty.
My special interest populations are definitely people experiencing homelessness, grappling with substance use, and/or struggling with severe mental illness.
I intend to advance in my current field and am considering going back to school in the next two years or so to get my DNP.
