After getting my BSN I primarily worked on inpatient psychiatric units. One of my favorite nursing jobs was on a geriatric psych unit that admitted people with concurrent medical issues (which gave me the chance to get a little experience with med/surge tasks like hanging IVs, changing dressings, managing NG tubes, etc.) I have worked in a variety of settings--some very holistic and progressive and some more traditional. I went back to school to get my doctorate in clinical psychology (Psy.D.) with graduate certification in Health Psychology (1999). I finished my MSN/PMHP at Alverno College in Milwaukee--graduating in May of 2017. I have a strong interest in real world pragmatic approaches to addressing mental and physical health and continue to explore Solution-Focused and Mindfulness Informed approaches to enhance my clinical work.
