Bio

My name is Kathleen A. Donahue and I am currently an Instructor of Psychiatric Nursing at Cochran School of Nursing in Yonkers, NY.   As a nurse for the last 42 years and a psychiatric nurse for 43 years; I have worked extensively with individuals with mental health issues.  A strong proponent of relationship based care, I focus on the belief that connecting with patients and putting yourself in their shoes makes the difference.  Each and every interaction and moment has tremendous potential to support a person’s recovery.

I have worked in many aspects of Psychiatric Nursing and have experience in a variety of roles:  Staff Nurse, Research Nurse, Home Care Nurse, Educator, Professor, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Patient Care Director, Director of Education, Director of Practice and Quality, Director of Nursing and an Assistant Dean at an AAS program.  I am also a trained Preventing and Managing Crisis Situations Instructor and an American Heart Basic Life Support Instructor.

I hold BS in Nursing from the University of Rhode Island and a MA in Nursing from New York University, and Board Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing with the ANCC.
